I was born in an Old Order Amish community in Missouri. When I was 7 my Dad moved the family to southern Indiana, and when I was 11 he moved the family to Wisconsin. It was there that I met my husband in 1987 and 2 years later on May 31, 1989 we got married. In the years that followed, the Lord blessed us with 4 beautiful children, (2 boys and 2 girls) which all accepted the Lord as their personal Savior and have a desire to serve Him.

In growing up I was taught you have to live the Amish life style, and then if you are good enough you might make it to heaven. To me, death was a very scary thing, as I always had a fear I might not make it to heaven. There were many rules we had to follow. For example, one rule that was very strictly taught in our home was that if I didn’t wear a head covering, God would not allow me into heaven.

In the spring of 1999 I was witnessed to by my husband which eventually led to my salvation as I realized all the rules and every thing I was taught will not get me to heaven. Its only through Jesus alone with no man-made rules attached to it, Praise the Lord! For the first time in the 31 years of my life, I realized my life is a lot like the Pharisees and Jesus called them hypocrites.

But now I realized I will have a new challenge. My family and friends will shun me, but I wanted them to understand their need for Jesus and that their religion will not get them to Heaven. But sadly they are still all in that religion.

In July of 2005 we were introduced to the fair ministry at our local fair through our church. God impressed upon our hearts to help at the booth every year. In the mean time God sent an evangelist, Bro. Warren Garraway to preach at our church. And while sitting under his preaching God really dealt with my heart about serving Him full time as a missionary, not knowing that God was dealing with my husband as well in the same way, but we didn’t know where and what he would have us do, and so in the mean time while praying and waiting on the Lord to give us His direction we kept serving Him at our local church. That is, teach the 8-12 year old Sunday school class and our family runs the bus route. I help out in the nursery and in toddler church, as well as go out with our church soul winning group on Saturdays. And where ever else I am needed.

In 2008, my husband was asked to consider being in charge of the ministry booth at our local fair. After praying and seeking council with our pastor we felt God leading us in that direction. Since then, God opened many doors to witness in many fairs, festivals, farm shows, parades, FFA convention, etc. And we believe God wants us to be able to go into that ministry full time.
